The Premise

To See With Eyes Unclouded By Hate is about the presence and absence of peace. It is about different ways that hope manifests to me—a few being classical texts, shared experiences, and love. It is a platform to share philosophies that help people put aside their differences and commune. It is an attempt to create a mood that helps you feel alright.

This is some background information the creation of the art, written to highlight these themes and to let you see the journey we walked.

The Artist

"My work reflects personal encounters with the natural world and the patterns of perception that emerge from our daily experiences and observations." - Libby Bush

Libby Bush and I met working at a Frozen Yogurt shop in Commerce, TX. After graduating with a BFA in Studio Art, she traveled the world painting wildlife murals and doing freelance illustration and design. It would be these designs that would draw me to choosing her to commission the album art for To See With Eyes Unclouded by Hate.

Exterior Concept

Yakushima Island - An island of ancient growth.

The forests are ancient cedars and there's tons of mountains and waterfalls everywhere. - Libby Bush

The initial concept was to focus on an old-growth forest featuring the character of Yakul, from Princess Mononoke.

Interior Concept + A Progress Shot

The goal for the interior concept was to highlight the CD in a creative way inside the packaging. The stump and the use of contrast imply that the CD itself is the source of the light.
